Every year I look forward to my chance to design a poster for the Rose Bay Public School main arts event and this year the art show theme was ‘The Art of Colour’. I asked that the kids supply me with coloured body parts, with their imagination being the only limit to what sort of body that might be…
Then I had some fun with colour!
Yayoi Kusama was the inspiration for these works created by the kids for The Art of Colour.
I was keen to show the kids that it wasn’t just about the finished work, but about enjoying the journey. They each designed their own pattern, painted their 12 panels and an item of clothing and chose a prop and a pose to document the work. The result was mind-blowing!
Two of my paintings were recently part of Exchange, an exhibition featuring 55 artists from regional and metropolitan areas around Australia. There were 110 small scale art works in the show. With each artist showing one for sale and one to swap.
The exhibition was curated by Amanda van Gils

She had put in the energy knowing that one day she would be promoted to a higher position (28 x 25cm, oil on canvas)
This is the poster I designed for the 2012 School Production for Rose Bay Public School. Since the show is about a postman’s journey around Australia, I asked that the kids make pictures to be used as postage stamps. The A4 stamps were exhibited on the wall on the big night, along with a great collection of postboxes we made to go with the stamps.
